2 Timothy 2:4(AMP)
No soldier when in service gets entangled in the enterprises of [civilian] life; his aim is to satisfy and please the one who enlisted him.
When we were much younger, there were days our parents would send us to buy them some stuff needed to be used in the house. Before we launch out we'll have to sometimes recite the list of things till we get all correct then we are allowed to go: As we go, we keep repeating the list. Then all of sudden we see our friends playing football at the playground and just one pass was enough to divert your course and direction. We would join them to play for sometime and emerge the hero but before we know it a huge amount of time has been spent. We suddenly remember we've been sent from home. The heartbreaking part is that we will forget the list or sometimes the money will even get missing.
You can imagine the entire expression of the body after we're coming back home.
That is the reality in the lives of many people in their journey of life: They have drifted off the main course and they're investing their best of resources and energies into things that don't really matter and won't be the end of their eventual becoming. One of the key reasons why people become unproductive, irrelevant or unfulfilled in the latter parts of their lives is that they minor the major things and major the minor things in their lives.
The young is in school because he is a student implying that he must be studious but he ends up becoming the brand ambassador for Cristiano Ronaldo, a man he has never seen and might never see in his entire life.
Imagine Our LORD JESUS deciding to focus on His carpentry career and building upon just that throughout His entire stay on earth living as a full time carpenter and dying therein. Prophecy would have been truncated and men and creation would have remained in bondage.
DISTRACTION! Most people are easily distracted. They can't keep their focus on what they are supposed to do. The slightest sound around them is enough to draw them away from their designated task and post.
Distraction doesn't announce itself: It doesn't make noise.
It looks attractive, fun and sometimes seemingly beneficial.
It eats slowly into you until wasted seconds are converted it minutes, wasted minutes into days, wasted days into weeks, wasted weeks into months and wasted months into years.
That's how people come to the realization in some latter point in their lives that they've made the wrong investments, hence total wastage which is mostly tagged as "delay."
A man who can't focus is a man who will always end up begging for more time. You know why?
He has wasted the allotted time.
Be so focused that your focus will become a distraction to what desires to distract you.
